Meet Ella, a sweet and gentle senior Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for life. Ella enjoys the simple pleasures-leisurely walks, relaxing on a sunny deck or courtyard, and spending time with her favorite people.

Since coming to CHS, Ella has quickly won over staff and volunteers alike with her winsome habit of gently pawing your hand for pets. Ella is a bit on the chonky side and would definitely benefit from a controlled weight loss plan in her new home. Luckily, Ella still enjoys playing fetch and going on meandering sniff walks, so she'll be up for the challenge!

As an older dog, Ella may be a great fit for new dog owners. Her chill, snuggly nature and excellent house manners make her a great friend, but her age hasn't slowed her down much and she still loves to play and explore. With appropriate intros, Ella may even do well with your cats - she's lived with cats before! On walks, she can get very excited and may pull towards dogs and fast moving vehicles, so adopters should be comfortable handling a strong girl!

Ella does have some special needs-she is currently on a special diet and medication to manage her itchy skin and will likely need veterinary management for this moving forward. Luckily, she takes her pills easily and doesn't let it slow her down at all!
